The collaboration with Lenny Kravitz was born out of the artist’s passion for photography. The first camera Kravitz used was his father’s Leicaflex which he received at age 21, as a gift from his father.
The distinctive design of the Leica M-P Correspondent is reminiscent of a beautifully aged Leicaflex. The finish of each camera and lens is individually handcrafted with the edges displaying a patina similar to equipment which has seen years of constant use.

Leica MP Gold 60 Years People’s Republic of China Set $49,995
Sixty of these MP gold sets were made to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the People's Republic of China in 2009. The body, #3831507, is gold plated and covered in red calf's skin. The lens is the 50mm1.4 Asph, #4073368. This set does not have the edition number. This is not uncommon in special editions for Leica to produce a few units as production samples, which are outside of the numbering of the edition. We have seen this with the current M60, the M9-P Hermes and the Paul Smith X2, just to name a few. This one comes with the lens, cap and display box. There is no outer box or paperwork present. The camera has seen very slight use as there is evidence of the mounting of a strap on the camera. This is a very rare and uncommon camera to see, especially here in the USA! [#]
Leica M9-P Edition Hermès $50,000
The highlight of the Leica M9-P “Edition Hermès” is the “Veau Swift” calfskin leather in “ocre,” supplied by Hermès for the leathering of the silver-chromed version of the Leica M9-P camera.
This extremely fine and supple leather is applied not only to the camera body, but is also used for the shoulder strap included in the set. The camera also sports a special design, created in collaboration with the automotive designer Walter de’Silva.
Furthermore, various features of the camera body have been redesigned, including the top deck, the base plate, the shutter speed dial, the multifunction wheel and the shutter release. These details distinguish the cameras from the standard version of the Leica M9-P and emphasize the unique status of the limited edition. In addition to a dedicated serial number, each camera also bears one of a series of consecutive limited-edition numbers.
